Wont Latch on anymore

My ds has been ill for last few weeks with cold then had a reaction to wysoy (used to top up feeds due to severe milk allergy) since then been having problems with him latching on he does for few sucks then starts to cry so end up giving him ebm.
Any advice or help? thanks

This happened to me and I got so stressed with it that I stopped BFing at 4 weeks when Imogen had a cold - but I so wish I'd persisted. I think the best thing to try and do is maybe hand express a little first before he tries to latch on as I realised about a week after I'd stopped BFing that it was probably the let down reflex being too quick for her that made it hard for her to feed as she had just got over being ill and still had a bit of a blocked nose so was finding it hard to feed that fast.

Just thought you could maybe try this as it could help :S

Hope you sort it out soon - but I'd advise you not to give up as I so regret stopping BFing.

The other thing that might be happening is that the bottles are a lot easier to get food out of than a breast, and he might be rejecting the boob as he is hoping for the 'easy' food instead. When you give him the formula, is it in a bottle or a syringe/dropper? You might find it easier to get him to take the breast again if he is looking for comfort, rather than food.
