how long should he be drinking?

My lil man is 1 week and 4 days old, he feeds every 2 hours (everyone is telling me to try and stretch him to 3 hours, but he cries and I just cant help but give in)

Anyways

I was wondering how long should a feed last? he only drinks for about 7 min untill he is so sleepy he stops... im scared he isn't getting in the hind milk... I try and wake him by tickling his feet or changing his nappy ( the nappy sometimes works) but then he also just drink for about 3 min...

please help!! I feel clueless

dont try to limit the amount of feeds, u need to be feeding on demand to make sure hes getting enough! he might just b a little and often baby, mine is the opposite to u feeds often and feeds for an hour on 1 boob, then he wants the other straight after! i really wouldnt deprive him, if hes demanding it then give it! hes only over a week, when hes having a growth spurt, ull b attached to the sofa! x

Harry fed little & often during the day for the 1st 2 weeks (and also for the 1st 4 days, would only accept my right boob!), but has always fed longer at night. He now feeds for about 30-40 minutes at a time & wants it every 2 hours or so during the day, but goes 4-5 hours between feeds on average at night.
There is no 'set' amount of time your LO should be feeding; their tummies are so tiny to begin with & definitely no bigger than their fist is what I heard, so it doesn't really take a lot to fill them up, and also breast milk is deigested quicker than formula, which is why BF babies often seem like they're feeding more often.
Best to give him a feed on his demand, whether it's just a little bit, or a lot- so long as he is having plenty of wet 7 dirty nappies, he is probably getting enough. It'll will be knackering at first, but it does get better, I promise & I'm sure everyone else will agree on that one!

Noah falls asleep on the boob so I pick him up give his back a good rub to a) wind him and b) wake him a little then I put him back to the boob. I also tickle his neck or gently blow on his face to wake him and he keeps suckling.

On growth spurts he feeds every 2 hours. I would just feed when baby wants it. Im sure as time passes the time will naturally stretch.
