Sleeping

This post is aimed at people that breast feed only. Does your baby sleep right through the night? If so when did s/he start to do this?

My daughter is 13 weeks old and still wakes in the night for a feed. I've noticed ladies who give there baby a fomula feed at bed time, their babies sleep right through. I was just wondering if i was alone with still having to feed mine at 4/5am.

At 6 weeks, my LO started to sleep for five or six hours without a feed. Now, at nearly 8 weeks, she usually goes 6 hours and has done 7 and 7.5 (but only those two times).

So she has slept through from 10pm until 8am only waking once, at 4am, for a feed.

Usually though, she goes to sleep at 8.30ish, so I don't get the benefit of the longer block as I am still up.

My LO had a bottle of formula once at bedtime. It made no difference to how long she slept (she has slept longer with just breastmilk). But as I said it was only once so not much to go by.

I would also like to know if/when bf babies can be expected to sleep through for longer periods of time.

Bella is exclusively breastfed and wakes up once overnight, which I don't mind at all. She does one of two things...
Eats at 8pm, 12am, and 7am...
Or eats at 8pm, 4am, and 7am..
Either way, she always does one big stretch.

My baby is exclusively on BM and he sleeps through the night....from 9-12 hours in a stretch, he's done this since he was 8 weeks old.

Casen was exclusively breastfed from birth to 7mo...at that age we started offering some formula but seriously between 7-11mo I would say max 10 bottles so not a daily thing. He didn't start to sleep through until he weaned from the breast and went full time on formula at 11mo.

Hayden exclusively breastfed until he self weaned at 19mo and I had to night wean him at 15mo because of horrible thrush...thankfully right around that time I started to notice he really wasn't needing the feedings..but just a couple weeks before that he really did need the feedings at night

depends on your defintion of sleeping through i guess.

I tend to say that Thomas, at 4months, still doesnt sleep through. But that being said, i like him to go to bed early so i get some me time in the evenings. He generally sleeps from 8pm-4am then goes back to sleep til around 7-8am after i feed him. I guess if i put him to bed at 10pm he'd probably wake up at 6am and that would be considered sleeping through?

Hes been in this routine for i would say about 6-8weeks now, so since he was about 2months old.

Olivia at 4 months had 4 weeks of sleeping from 9.00pm until 6.00am but then went through a growth spurt and since then feeds at least once a night. Olivia does go to bed early now between 6.30pm and 7.00pm and most of the time wakes at 2.00am for feed then again at 6.00am when we get up for the day.

That doesn't sound too bad to me

My LO has slept through only waking once to feed (she doesn't actually 'wake' as such) but it doesn't happen regularly yet. I hope it comes soon!
