Here's a quote I liked that is in the Gill Rapley book about baby led weaning... I thought it was a bit motivational...

"Countless women have regained trust in their bodies through nursing their children, even if they weren’t sure at first that they could do it. It is an act of female power, and I think of it as feminism in its purest form.”
—– Christine Northrup M.D.

I love this thread! I'm going to show it to my 3friends that are pregnant cause it would of helped me in the early days of bf!
I am still struggling with sore nipples and oversupply but the benefits definately out weigh the problems!
I had my heart set on having a water birth but after several complications I ended up with an emergency c section. I felt like I had failed my lo and that my body was useless. Bf has helped me to come to terms with this as I now have restored faith in my body and it's power to protect and provide for my lo. I also struggled to bond with my lo immediately due to my feelings about the c section and bf has really helped me to connect with him and believe in out relationship of mother and son. I now feel happy that I had a c section as it made me determined to do something natural and what better way than to bf my son!
The thing that has got easier for me in time is the sore nipples.... My toes don't curl anymore and I don't dread feeding my lo ...... I love it!
Thanks for this thread it's a great Inspiration!!

I agree with this - I had a birth that was so not what I had wanted (was booked for a home birth with a pool, but she was 16 days late so I had a hospital induction which was bloody horrible - well, the two days building up to it were, anyway). BFing HAD to work for me, or I would have been utterly useless in my eyes. I love the bond it has given us and I love that she got all her strength, chub and squishiness from me.

THis is a great thread! I love the fact that from day 1 LO and I have had to work as a team to crack this BF lark. We have struggled with thrush and painful latch on and now after almost 7 weeks it is only just starting to get easier. I love the fact that wherever I am, even if I am stranded on a dessert island (unlikley I know....) I will always be able to feed LO. I also love the fact that I can eat 500 extra calories a day to make up for the ones I am using. BRING ON THE CAKE!!!!!!

Thanks for this. Some lovely quotes.

I love that when I look at her chubby little cheeks I can take all the credit for it and never have to worry about over feeding her
