my really good friend, who is also breastfeeding has found a lump in her boob and is waiting for a hospital appointment.

Has anyone else experienced this whilst bf?

I have, i went to see a "breast secialist" (i use the term very loosely) at my hospital and after having a ultrasound on my breast it was discovered it was a milk filled duct that just wasn't emptying, they did drain it with a needle once but it came back again, it wasn't painful or anything, i asked to see the consultant again to discuss it with him and he told me to stop feeding from that breast for 7 days he was a toal idiot and had no clue about up to date BF info, he told me because Alfie was 3 months he had gotten all the goodness and benefits he was goin to get from BF and it was pointless carrying on needless to say i put him right and told him i WAS NOT under any circumstances stopping unless it was putting Alfie at risk which it wasn't, luckily i knew enough to know stoppin for 7 days would dry my milk up in that breast and chose to ignore him and carried on feedin the lump disappeared itself a few weeks later.

I hope your friend gets a better doc than me thats for sure xxx

This just happened to me, mine was an abcess. They have drained it twice and been on antibiotics, back this week for a check up. It didn't hurt and they were all lovely and made a fuss of LO while I was there.
