Just in case any of you didn't know - any milk collected needs to be in plastic bottles, not bags.

When Sofia was in hospital I was feeding her and half the preemie ward with my mad supply but no one told me I couldn't freeze it in bags, and so I brought in a whole freezers worth in bags (they're easier for me to store) and they wouldn't take them, apparently there's a risk they'll break during defrosting and it's not considered hygenic. Had to throw them all away when we left the country So sad!

Well done for signing up ladies. I have been thinking alot about doing an event to raise funds but I am completely dumb about organising anything (although I could organise a P*ss up in a brewery with some help ) suggestions would be much appreciated

You could always set up a page with JustGiving and do something like a sponsored swim, walk or cycle? I did a sponsor swim a few years ago, I swam the distance of the channel! (In a nice indoor pool though!). If you did do something like that, I'd sponsor you

Bubbles, this is a great idea! I would most definitely get involved if you would like, and would sponsor you if you did anything! Not into skydiving though.....

i have actually expressed and donated to two of my close friends whos milk dried up! one of my friends just didnt like the idea of formula so i expressed 4 hourly and her husband came by every day to collect my milk which they used to mix in with the formula so he was getting mostly milk. Soon after i had decided to bring that to an end after about 2 months my friends sister come to my house with her 2month old baby looking tired and worried, her milk had completly gone and her baby was refusing formula. he had eaten very little for 3 days so i expressed a bottle right then and he gulped it down and i went back to 4 hourly expressing! this went on untill recently, faith was hospitalised with croup so i stopped expressing i was too stressed and too tired. Lucas had been weened on to formula by his mum using less and less breast milk each time. Plus points its SO rewarding getting the texts that the babies were putting on weight was amazing and as faith is down to 2 feeds a day it worked for everyone. id do it again without hesitation

I considered donating my stash and expressing for a friend, who I have a feeling will not breastfeed as she doesn't like the idea of it. I decided against offering though, after I asked some ladies on here if it would offend! I'd be so happy if she asked me though.

I really, really struggled with my supply while exclusively expressing, and I'd have loved someone to offer me a couple of bottles of milk, just to get rid of that fear hanging over my head.

maybe just say that you have all this milk thats going to go to waste and see if she knows anyone who might want to use it? then youll get an idea of how she feels about the subject. :-)
