We were told one month at our breastfeeding class to avoid problems with breastfeeding - that way breastfeeding is already established. You then have to use at least 3 bottles a week to maintain it.

I got lazy (well we moved house when Matilda was 10 weeks) at about 8 weeks and couldn't find the time to express and when we tried again a couple of nights ago, at 16 weeks, she refused to take it.

I think they reccommend 6 weeks but I gave Lucas a bottle of ebm after about 6 days I think. To start with I just let my OH give him a bottle at night so he didn't get confused and never had a problem thankfully.

I've been told by the MW at about 2 weeks, so in a couple more days...

But Pearl has latched on easily from day 1 and fed well, if we had had problems I think it would have been worth waiting a bit longer.

I was recommended 3-4 weeks, and have given the first one to my LO yesterday. But as someone said you need to continue giving it at least 3 times a week to maintain it.

Alfie was having top up of formula from 2 days old. this was mainly due to him being prem and my milk not properly there so he wasn't getting enough. i bf all day now and sometimes give formula at night.

Noah had his first bottle feed at 3 weeks. Then he had his second bottle feed today. Hes not had any latch issues, and he took like a duck to water to both bottle feeds so i think it depends on your LO weather you need to give a bottle 3 x a week to keep them used to it.
