which bottle?

i am pregnant and hoping to breastfeed...I'm reading conflicting reviews on which bottle is best to use when you are pumping. I really want DH to get to feed the baby often and wondered what you pros think is the best...

so far ive heard: Dr. Browns, Avent and Playtex Vent Air...

also, what is the use of the bottles that have plastic bag liners? are those good/better that others?

Thanks : )

HI hun i have used bottel to fed with all mine not bcos Dh wanted to feed but bcos they were stuck in scbu, i swear buy NUK brand adn MAW more resentlyly MAW as it has the flatter shapped teat which resembles the nipple very well adn it ahs air flow vent on bottom of bottle. I belive the one's u insert a bag into reduce wind but most bottle's claim to do this these days. Avent i have hurd mixed reports on tbh hun. they leak after a fwe wks of use and even thou expensive havnt had that great reviews. Good Luck with desiding xxx

When I breastfed Rachel what seems like a lifetime ago I used avent and the bags in the bottles were so you could store and freeze the milk.
I might try a different brand rather than avent this time, things will have changed a lot I imagine in 8 years.

I used an Avent breast pump and bags with older 2 and found this comftable to use but both babies wouldnt take to avent bottles. With baby 3 i bought a tommie tippee breast pump which i found uncomftable and closer to nature bottles by tommie tippee and my baby took to these great i expressed a bottle twice aday so my hubby could join in feeding. x hope this helps.

It's a really good idea to avoid bottles at all during the first period of BFing, to avoid nipple confusion; and many people find that until their supply is well established, at 6 weeks or more, it is vital to keep baby on the breast. That's for baby's benefit, because the suck technique is learnt, and for mum's benefit, to allow her body to stabilise to the right amount of milk.

Even if supplementation is necessary (and EBM is by far the best milk to offer) then you can use a cup, spoon, eyedropper, syringe, or SNS - but not a bottle or dummy!!!! Even a single teat experience can cause some sensitive babies to refuse the breast forever more!

If baby's dad wants to help, then why not delegate the nappies to him? If you put it in, why doesn't he deal with the "outs"? Or maybe he could do bath, or sling wear, or the colic dance?

Best of luck for when baby comes.

Melanie

I agree if you do need to use a bottle EBM is best! so with that said, I like the playtext drop ins for an easy clean up... but avent ones are nice as well. They make them BPA free and most size hands can clean the inside of the bottle well.. good luck!

My daughter hates the bottle , we've tried several types and have finally had some success with the Adiri bottles . I'd definitely recommend them , very natural .
