did you successfully bf the 2nd time round?

Hi ladies,
I'm going to try bf again & just wondered how many of you tried the 2nd time & did it successfully?
I bf my son exclusively til 6mth, then just at nights til 11mth & just wondered whether because i did it fine, does that mean i've more chance of successfully doing it again or is it pot luck, Could i fail the 2nd time?

Thanks ladies x

I found it much easier the 2nd time...though granted I wasn't successful the first time, only for a few weeks. But I think knowing what to expect, knowing what was normal made it sooo much easier. The first time I just thought it would be so natural, no pain, so easy, we'd both just know...which obviously isn't the case. So knowing that there could be some pain while adjusting to it, that there was a learning period for us both made things much better I breastfed my 2nd until 11mo when he weaned on his own after being sick...then my 3rd til 19mo when he self weaned

Thanks hun, I know what you mean about what to expect
With my 1st i swore i would ff & soon after birth he was given a premade bottle as i wasn't upto bf & hadn't exactly decided how to feed. Later that night spending a night on the ward with josh i decided to give it a go at least i'd tried right? Well i found it fair straight forward & although painful at the beginning i think i've more an idea this time, Especially as i got mastitus (sp) so i'll know if it happens again.

I was going to buy a steriliser & bottles just in case but i really dunno whether to just get a couple of bottles & a microwave steriliser for now as if i bf it wont be used so don't want to waste money.

I found second time around I had learned about how malpositioning caused sore nipples, and didnt do that again, lol. I think you do learn from your first experience, but its quite hard to do normal stuff and BF I find cause its so time consuming. Having said that Im now breastfeeding baby number 6 (and have breastfed all bar my first) so it is doable.

Thankyou hun, I'm hoping it goes ok this time too. I don't fancy the idea of ff now or the messing with bottles, sterilising & storing & preparing especially being on my own.
Fingers crossed the bf goes to plan x
