Weight loss, have to see GP who probably won't prescribe domperidone - update

As of last week, Aisling had only gained 1oz in 4 weeks - this week she's managed to lose 1/2oz of that I'm almost sure it's a supply issue because I barely seem to have anything in the afternoons anymore and she's crying between sides. I've tried so many things to increase my supply and nothing has work. However, the HV says she doesn't know of our surgery ever having prescribed domperidone and she'd be surprised if they did for me.. Just can't understand it, surely it's worth a try?? The only other options are formula which will only make matters worse or starting solids now adn I wanted to wait til 6 months to do baby led weaning.

Just feeling a bit crap about it all!

A pack of 10 tablets costs about £5, so they are very expensive.

Lu, I hope the GP will be sympathetic. Perhaps ask the receptionist for an appointment with the most breastfeeding friendly GP at the surgery? My regular GP isn't the most helpful, but there is one lady GP who is, so I see her now I'm breastfeeding.

Definitely couldn't afford £5 for 10 tablets That's a good idea Asacia, I'll ask for one in the morning. The most baby friendly doctor is on holiday until the middle of next week unfortunately so hopefully there'll be someone else who can help. It might not make a difference but can't help thinking it's worth a shot

Not only would the GP not prescribe domperidone, she'd never even heard of it despite bfing her own kids!!

I've decided to start offering her some baby rice mixed with formula at 5.30pm which is when she'd usually have a bottle of EBM. I'll then bf before she goes to bed. Hopefully that'll make her a bit less hungry when my supply is at it's lowest. Also hoping it'll mean it's not replacing a feed as I don't want to stop bfing any time soon!
