why is bf hurting my shoulder?

ok ive put off asking this because i wasnt sure if it was the bf causing it but im sure it is now. whenever i bf them i get a really horrible achey pain in my left shoulder at the back. it feels like a nerve or something, its really uncomfortable. its only when i feed aimee as shes pretty much always on the left. its hard to describe how it feels. its like its bruised or something but i dont see how. anyone got any ideas?

It could well be BF. Are your shoulders and arms fully relaxed when you are feeding?

yeah, i hav a cushion behind me supporting my back and the babies are in just the right position so i can put my arms over them (around them) and rest them on the nursing pillow. i cant figure out why its happening. bf from the left is uncomfortable sometimes too, when phoebe is feeding on the right its fine and theres no discomfort at all but when aimee is feeding it can be uncomfortable sometimes and hurts my boob (my actual boob, not the nipple!)

I have heard a chiropractor say that that area is the worst for nursing Mom's! It almost always goes out. Just try to do what you can..changing position,whatever. You have double duty though, so good luck!

Defo bf hun. My sister struggled with her shoulder area while bf. I really suffer with my neck - I have previous problems with it and this just makes things worse. Maybe try a chiropractor or seeing if you gp can help?
