Throwing up

Does your LO throw up a lot and if so is it a lot or a little?

Over the last 5 days my LO has been throwing up an awful lot. At least once a day when she's been sick she's thrown up everything she's eaten.

Surely this isn't normal??

My LO has only ever thrown up properly once so far - that was yesterday. He was feeding and stopped, pulled away and I saw he had a mouthful of milk just before he threw it up all over himself and me.

It frightened the hell out of me but he just looked to be fed all over again straight afterwards lol wasn't a bother on him.

Have no advice so hun, just wanted to give cos I know it's scary when that happens - hope your LO stops being sick xxx

Keep in mind that although it may look like everything they've eaten, it rarely is. The milk mixes with mucous and saliva before coming back up, so it looks like a lot more. And my LO spits up a good bit. Several times a day on average. As long as she doesn't seem to be in pain, and is gaining weight and peeing and pooping, you're fine.

Once a day isn't too bad. And it's true that it looks like more than it is. Get some regular milk from the fridge and spill it on the kitchen counter - you see that a little looks like a lot when it's spead on you, the bedding, the floor etc! My LO throws up about 20 times a day (after each feed, and then many times up until the next feed) - sometimes a small amount, other times enough that I need to bath him and have a shower myself, and yet he's still gaining weight, so some is staying down. Try keeping your LO upright after feeds and making sure they are pacing themselves while feeding. If you're worried, get it checked out though. Good luck

Finn's only just stopped throwing up so much. It's bliss! There were things I ate that made it worse, so if they suddenly start projectiling even more than usual that's something to take into consideration but it's basically something babies do and grow out of. The little muscle that keeps food in the tummy isn't that strong. Plus I think Finn always overate. Eventually it strengthens and the get better at feeling full.
