Biting

I wonder if anyone has any advice. I have BF before but have never encountered this. My baby bites me fairly often before her feed just as she latches on. I have a little soreness anyway cause its difficult to get her on properly but this biting is really 'orrible.

Do you have a fast let down? My baby bites to try and slow down the milk gushing into his mouth, or so reckons the HV. It's taken 7 weeks for my milk to adjust for him and he still chokes and gags on it sometimes but the biting seems to have stopped. If he clamped down I normally prised him off and let some leak onto a towel or breast pad before letting him come back on.

this is why i stopped nursing my son... i would cry through every feeding because it was just so insanely painful... i dont think it was because of my let down though... but i HAVE continued to pump for him...

Ilana does this, only with the left boob, which seems to let down faster. She clamps down to try to slow the fast flow. I try to take her off and let some out onto a towel but it's not helping that much yet. I also try to use the same boob for feeds for 3-4 hours if possible. It's very early days so they are still perfecting their technique. Hang in there honey.
