Brest Pumps

Hello,
I want to buy a manual breast pump, either Medela or Avent, what are your thoughts on these products?
Also, can you use any bottles on the pumps or do they have to be their own ones?

When i asked a while ago about breast pumps it was an all round thumbs up for the Medela swing or Medela Mini.. You do have to use the medela bottles with it but these are reasonably cheap. I tried using a manual one after my son and found it quite hard work. The Medela is electric so takes the hard work out of it so that can only be a bonus

imo manual arnt very gd ....generally tho i pump into the bottle that comes with pump then pour into the bottles i use to feed lo x

I have a manual Avent ISIS. You can use Avent bottles with it but mine was given to me (new but unused) without bottles so I purchased some freezable Avent containers that attach straight to the pump. Once full you pop a lid on and pop them in the fridge or freezer. TBH manual pumping can be hard work but I don't find it uncomfortable and it's easy to use. I would never use it regularly but for everynow and then (usually when Ellis has gone a while between feeds or had a bottle) its great for relieving engorged boobies!!!

I had used the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature hand pump until 2 weeks ago and I bought a Medela Swing electric one. The difference is amazing, the Medela has double my output and is so effortless! The hand pump would kill my arms and some times you drift off and forget to pump! So the electric onje is better IMO
