Silly me was under the impression that you didn't need to wind a breast fed baby - my next door neighbor who breast fed hers told me before I had LO that you didn't need to. thankfully my midwife put me straight...and I now wind him, seems to be sick less often if he is winded

Jack has gradually needed winding less and less, but he still needs it once a day or so. You can often tell they need it if they get a blue tinge to their upper lip.

The over-the-shoulder method rarely works with Jack. I sit him up in my lap after a feed and lean him forwards slightly, taking his weight on my hand across his chest and he usually brings it up himself but sometimes needs a little pat on the back.

Ooh, how do they do that? I think Abby needs winding as she is often a wee bitty sick after feeds but more often than not, when I try to wind her, nothing happens. I never know if that is because I am doing it wrong, or not for long enough or what. I've tried the over the shoulder, and on the lap but to no avail. If there is a way to know if she actually needs it, I'd love to know what that is!

Help!!

Dont agree with Logibears statement, i think whether breast or bottle they will always cry or be obviously uncomfortable if they have wind.

One menthod i found quite good was to walk up and down the stairs with baby on my shoulder, that always seems to get the wind up.

yeh, although you dont get as many burps out of them as a bottle fed baby. Riley seems to have more wind in his bottom half then top half if you know what i mean and he releases a couple every time i wind him
