For those with toddlers....

have you ever been tempted to let your toddler latch on? Let me explain......I don't know if this sounds weird or not. I have 2 and 3 yr old boys and am feeding my lo but with the younger son some times I look at him and feel the urge to whip my boob out and let him feed! He was bottle fed too!

Is it weird or has anyone else felt like this? xxx

Casen was really interested in trying it when Hayden was first born...so he was 2 1/2....I actually told him he could and he started to latch on but then was like "ewww no that's for babies!" and then never wanted to lol. I would never push it at all, I really don't think there is any harm in letting a toddler try it, most likely they aren't going to actually do it or pick back up doing it all the time or anything.

I cant speak from personal experience but I imagine its your mothering instincts! After all, women have been breastfeeding their children for hundreds and thousands of years. Worry not, no one thinks your a freak :P

Your little boys are so cute I'd wanna BF them!!

But seriously, I agree with Blah - its your maternal instinct. If I have anymore and the older ones asked I'd let them.

Hmmm....sort of but then not. I'm not making sense am I?

I only stopped feeding Toby when I was 19wks pregnant so wondered if he would actually remember and try and feed but he never has, I thought about it briefly but thought "if he bites me now"

Obviously it is up to you... I dont think I would let him though... Since he is obviously weaned etc, I would worry that his interest in breastfeeding would be related to jealousy of the new baby. Sometimes when babies/toddlers are close in age this becomes a problem (along with reverting to bedwetting or babytalking etc when they are advanced in those aspects)

That is true, but I think flat out denying him might make that worse. I'm not saying that you should try it, obviously that's fully up to you. But like with the reverting back...say kids that are potty trained then go back to not, they recommend you don't push it, don't get mad at the sudden accidents, just give them some time and they will usually go right back to doing it again once everything gets a bit more settled. So I think IF he wants to and IF you want to offering won't hurt, like I said before at his age, having not nursed anyways, he probably will end up turning his nose up, won't actually want to do it, probably would just want to try and see what it was about

ya, maybe, like you said if he tried it he may not even want to do it again... everyone has their own comfort levels and beliefs.

I think if he wanted to try, I would let him but wouldn't offer unless they did Agree it's maternal instincts
