HELP! Low milk supply

After a nasty haemorrage at the birth of my now 10 day old baby, I am still not producing enough milk to satisfy her needs. The midwife recommended breast at every feed with formula top-up every other feed.

My breasts never feel "full" and I'm starting to get really upset about this as I so badly want to breastfeed.

Are there any foods/drink/methods I could use to try and stimulate milk production?
I'm so fed up and feel like an inadequate mum...

Medically you can have Domperidone which is great, increases your supply considerably. Natural supplements there is Fenugreek and I use both of these.

But before you go down that road you can try: putting baby to the breast with every feed, express 10 mins each side immediately after feeding whilst your oh gives the top up or top up then express. You will defo see an improvement but it takes a few days to a week to see the benefits.

I took domperidone which kicks in in 24-48hrs, did the expressing and still do but only once a day now and the took the fenugreek. My supply is plentiful now.

I hope that helps hun. Try the expressing first and see if it improves after a week. Don't expect to get any milk out with the expressing btw, it is just to stimulate your supply xxx

Forgot to say get lots of skin to skin contact too, it really helps me even now. Get a sling and use the "Kangaroo" care hold which is all about skin to skin. My boobs are tingling at the thought of it lol

She's been having 60mls of formula every other feed but I haven't given her a supplement since last night as I'm hoping that exclusive breast-feeding will help to increase the supply.

Interesting what you all say about expressing! I'm definately going to give that a try.

Thanks everyone!
