Hi there, Myles is 9 days old and I am really enjoying BF but really worried at the amount of time he wants to do it - today has been the record so far - from 2.30 this afternoon and he has only just finally gone to sleep in his moses basket, I would love to get advice/support from one of the ladies please

My baby wants to feed about every hour to every hour and a half. He only stays on the breast for around 10 mininutes, he does comes off it himself, I do try to get him to stay for longer but he doesn't take it and seems satisfied. I believe I have a fast letdown and a good supply as he feeds easily even with a not so perfect latch, I never got sore or cracked nipples and he gets his face squirted sometimes

Shouldn't he be feeding every 3 hours or so a this stage? this is very tiring. He can go for longer stretches because he has done so, but it's not the norm. He was born at 38+5 with 2.610 kgs but has been gaining weight well, he now weights 4.200kgs.

Advice please

I'm also posting this as a new tread, but would love to have some personal support.

Breast milk is digested faster than formula and so babies don't tend to go as long between feeds. My Lo is 2 months old now and during the day he still feeds every 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours! I have quick a fast let down to, and he only feeds for 10 mins at a time and is satsified.

Does he go longer at night or is it still every 1 and 1/2 hours thru the night?

You can PM me if u want to chat, or moral support or anything!

Trish Caine was not feeding every 3 hours until now

It was always 1 hour or 1 and half hour for the first 3 months

Thank you Lucy_lu_84, yes he does go longer at night, I don't know what I would do if he didn't , I've been writting down every thing such as feeds, naps, etc but at night I lose track of everything. He sleeps with us, so I just get my booby out I'm not sure exacly how long it is between feeds then. He does give me some bad nights but it's not because of feeds, he twists and makes funny noises because of gaz, i guess. Poor him!

That's good to know, thank you. I must stop reading books with theories that only work in paper e.g the secrets of the baby whisperer
