hi! ive been on here quite a while now but i will give u all a bit of info bout me first.

my name is carly and i am 22 and 34 weeks pregnant with identical twin girls. i have a 2 yr old daughter called faith who i breastfed for about 3 weeks. i didnt really have a great reason to stop bf, u could say i just gave up as i couldnt handle the sore nipples and i had trouble positioning her where she could latch on properly i didnt have any support at all last time (my oh tried but he never really got involved with the bf aspect, he tried to be supportive but instead of telling me not to give up he went along with anything i wanted to do which meant we gave her formula) so im hoping itll make a big difference that i found bnb this time : i expressed milk and gave it to her in a bottle before we went onto formula but i just didnt have the patience to keep it up. we tried combination feeding but in the end i just gave up and put her fully on formula. it was the worst decision i have ever made. i regret it more than anything in the world. (im not saying ff is bad by saying that but i was determined she would have my milk for at least a few months and the only reason she didnt was because i was lazy and didnt try as hard as i shouldve) i feel like i let her down and tbh theres a part of me that feels guilty about being so determined to bf these 2 as i feel like im giving them preferential treatment to her iykwim.

im not bf yet but im having my babies on the 13th and plan to breastfeed. im having twins so i will most likely be trying tandem feeding which im dreading as i worry so much ill get it wrong and give up i have big ol boobies too which made it a bit tricky with dd and i think that was a main factor in me giving up bf with her. she would only feed from my right breast and would scream the place down if i put her to my left breast. i had to feed her lying down as i just couldnt position her properly if i was sitting up. every feed was done lying down and no matter what time of day it was i would fall asleep when she was feeding and i have large breasts so was constantly worried i would cover her face while i was asleep and she was feeding. i already have a pump and im getting some nipple cream this week and oh got me a nursing chair so im trying to prepare myself as best i can. i stopped wearing underwired bras straight away aswell so as not to interupt the development of my milk.

so back to the point. i will be tandem feeding twins, probably expressing sometimes to make sure i keep up my supply, my babies will be born at 36 weeks (i dont think thats classed as premature but im worried we could have trouble with latching on or my milk coming in etc) and i have to breastfeed them while running around after a 2 year old as well. so very soon i will be looking for a champion! sorry for going on but it is really important to me. thank you for reading this x

You're gonna be great hun! I jlust know it. I only BF my first for 6 wks but you cant feel bad about wanted to do better this time!

I don't think very many of us had any idea of what it take to BF a baby until we are in the thick of it. Looking back I am so not suprised at women giving up, it is really hard work. But this time you know and you are prepared and you are going to do a great job for your girls. Just think of all the adorable tandem nursing photos. I would talk to your OH and really get him on board this time. Tell him how important it is to you, and how you felt about stopping with your first LO. I found my DH's support to be sooooo valuable, and it really helped keep me going when times were the hardest. Good luck hun!!!

OMG yes get him on board before hand hun. I was like a dripping tap with my OH about how much I wanted to BF for longer this time and he's been my biggest champion for sure

Hi - i'm feeling a bit desperate! my daughter is 18 days old and has been exclusively breastfed. it turns out her latch has been less than perfect - i had sore cracked nipples which seem to have healed now, but now we both have thrush. we have started treatment for the thrush with my gp since tuesday. however the gp has been trying to help improve on the latch - basically she just doesn't take enough nipple into her mouth and her latch is too shallow. because she has been able to go so long with the shallow latch i am now having real trouble trying to get her to take more in her mouth. if i use the hold where she lies across my body she cries, arches her back, flails her arms and kicks her legs (it's like trying to control a small strong octopus). i have been trying instead the hold on the side but find the positioning really difficult. any help much appreciated! - the crying and frustration is getting to me!!! Thanks. x
