Question about breastfeeding

I posted this in the wrong forum so i'm moving it here hoping to get more replies!

I had my baby 3 weeks ago and tried to breastfeed but she wouldn't latch on and i'm ashamed to say i gave up easily! So for the last 3 weeks i have been bottle feeding. My question is... Is it too late to try breast feeding again? I dont think my milk has dried up but i dont leak at all. Little drops come out if i squeeze my nipple. I really wish i had tried harder to get her to latch on. Would it be fair on her to change her method of feeding now after 3 weeks? also i finished some antibiotics just over a week ago so would they be out of my system by now if i was to put her to the breast??

Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks
Sam x

Afraid I can't help you with this, but I do know that it is possible, although it takes an awful lot of hard work and dedication.
I hope that, if you decide to go for it, you're succesful There are a few girls on here that have done this and succeeded, so you are in the right place for advice and plenty of moral support!
Good luck hun, I wish you all the luck in the world x x

It's never too late!! It just depends how much you want it - it will take a big commitment but it definately can be done - women who have adopted have successfully BFd their babies!

Have a read of Rafwifes journal. She decide to try again after giving up and she is successfully BFing. She had her ups and downs but she was very determined.

Re-lactation [Journal of Sorts] -update pg 8

Good luck if you decide to go for it - I dont think it's un fair on your LO to try again.

Not sure about anti biotics hun - you will need to check that.

AND dont forget that it doesnt have to be all or nothing! You can carry on as you are and just introduce the breast now and again.

I'd like to say it's never to late but 5-6 months on it probably is! Where you are now, I think it's still very possible but it'll be so hard! Caitlyn was having some breastfeeds the whole way through and getting her to only have breast was REALLY hard, a little traumatic too!

If you want it, you can do it! x
