feeding less often???

Oscar seems to be less hungry the past couple of days and feeding for shorter time at the feeds (although he will suckle for ages if I let him, he actually only drinks for half the time he used to)...

he otherwise seems his usual self and still plenty of wet nappies and poos
so should I take his lead and not offer him boobie unless he seems hungry or just continue with our 'routine' (which I can hardly call a routine since it changes every other day)

He was feeding every 3 hours but it seems to be stretching out a bit and at night he will go from 10pm feed until 6 am.

No other signs to be worried about other than he still seems to get a lot of digestive discomfort - he doesn't seem to have 'gone off' the boobie juice, just needing less.

He is massive too - at the 2 month check he weighed 12.8 lbs and is now 3.5 months old and so heavy that I have been getting back ache.

I'm fed up with calling the pediatrician because I always feel fobbed off and they never tell me anything specific anyway.
So I thought I'd see what some of you experienced bf-ers reckon.

Follow his lead hun. I only offer the boob if she's showing signs of being hungry. I sometimes offer it because it's 'about that time' and maybe I need to be somewhere and want her fed before we leave IYKWIM. Hebe has a routine of sorts but like you it does change day to day. He's probably getting much more efficient at getting the milk out. I think we learn when they are feeding and when they are just enjoying the comfort. I suppose you just need to feed on demand - literally!

Sounds normal to me. Brenn was the same way. At this point you are good at producing and he is good at sucking. Both of you have become efficent at BFing. Well done!

Sam seemed to settle into a routine overnight and went from booby for food and comfort LOTS to really well spaced quick feeding with very occasional comforting..
My head still thinks he's tiny, but now if I try offering boob willy nilly he just looks at me as if to say "put away your firey biscuits wench!"

Yeah I would follow his lead, we always did feed on demand, from birth, never a set time frame they had to eat in or anything. As they get older they will go through spurts of not eating as much then suddenly eating all day it seems, and as they get older they also get better at nursing and it doesn't take them as long
