hard lump in breast

Hi all, i am breast feeding my 16 day old baby and just happened to be feeling my breasts and my left breast has a big lump in it about 2 inches up from my nipple it is a little sore when i massage but not overally painful. Its right at the top of my breast. i am 21 and really worried. Does it sound like a blocked duct?

I reckon it's just a blocked duct. Next time you're feeding your baby, just massage the lump... you'll notice it will go down in size and eventually disappear. Massaging in the shower/bath, or with warm compresses on your boobs can also help. My boobs have been full of lumps and bumps, but I just do the above and they're gone the next day/two.

Yeah sounds like a blocked duct. Stick a disposable nappy under warm water and use that as a compress plus a nice warm bath and some Ibuprofen should do it. I had them a few times and they're a bugger if you don't shift them quickly.

It could be a blocked duct or a cyst but definitely get it checked out. Let us know what the docs say x

TBH I can't really remember if they moved or not. They were definitely hard though, quite tender to the touch and reasonably large. I wouldn't panic.

Give the suggestions folks have made a go and get yourself to the docs in the morning so they can put your mind at rest. With a bit of luck the lump will at least start to go down by then anyway.

It sounds like a blocked duct. I would get it checked out just in case. The doctor is likely to recommend what the girls above already have. It is good to try and do something for it or it could lead to mastitis.

Aw I'm sure it won't be.

Did she give any indication what she thought it was? Did she say to carry on feeding from it? Sometimes that clears it.
