Comfort Sucking

Looking back, I spent so much time breastfeeding my babies and it seemed like I was sitting on the couch feeding them hours and hours in a day. They never took to the soother and absolutely hated it.

Anyhow, a good part of it was comfort sucking. At that time, I thought my babies were hungry all the time but now I know better.

I want to cut down on it, if I somehow can. Any suggestions?

I let my LO comfort suck until this last week because when I go back to work he wont be able to comfort suck when he pleases. Now I just give him a pacifier when hes done eating and is just playing and he normally sucks away until he takes a nap. I do let him comfort feed at night still because I'm all for something that lets him fall back asleep faster.

Izzie does this as well. Finally she's started somewhat taking a pacifier. I do the same as Luckyme and when she's done nursing and is just sucking I'll slip in the pacifier until she falls asleep and then I take it out. Sometimes during the day, if she just tired and has already eaten I will give her the pacifier as well.

Can't help either lol. What about getting a sling so you're not glued to the couch, you can BF with some types of sling.

Bren will not take a pacifier, sometimes I really wished he would.

Sam it took forever for Connor to get it. I really had to try around with pacifiers and it took many times of him spitting it out after 2 seconds and putting it back in. Some nights we would have to hold it there for 10 minutes until he fell asleep. Now he is a pro at using orthodontic pacifiers with a silicone nipple. If he wouldn't take a pacifier I would be stuck sitting all day because he could comfort suck all day long.
