I'm Currently Feeling: | you see, I was thinking this the other day as well, when I had the problem with Juleika and didn't know what's going on!
but now, what I think it was, is, I stopped to give her solids as she obviously caught a little stomach bug when I went to hospital with her to check on her skin last thursday!
I started to give her rice yesterday again and she is much better, even slept for about four hours in a row tonight! (that's rare nowadays!)
now, I really think she is simply just ready for weaning!
did you start Tyler on solids already? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | At six months your baby is hitting a growth spurt and a maturing milestone. A woman's breastmilk is continually changing in makeup and this is one big one.
A lot of mama's think that baby isn't getting enough food or sustinance, but even the WHO (world health organization) agrees that 12 months exclusive breastfeeding isn't detrimental to baby's growth or development (in fact quite the opposite.
If you WANT to continue bf exclusively, just keep feeding Tyler as he wishes, he's trying to cue your body to make more mature milk, and more of it for him so it's better sustaining, and better for his age. I imagine if you feed this way he should be coming around in the next week to ten days.
Another thing that happens about now, is that your breasts will actually feel LESS FULL. You might think you aren't making enough milk for him. DO NOT BE ALARMED. This is a normal change in BF'ing. If baby has the same number of diapers and he's staying hydrated, you are doing awesome.
Hang in there!
(BTW I want to reitterate that if you choose to wean at this time I completely understand. But I wanted you to know that many of these changes that seem like weaning cues are really not, and if you want to try to pursue BF beyond 6 months just hang in there, maybe contact your local lactation consultant etc.) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | thx, Magerle
that was very useful information!
I still try to give Juleika as much breastmilk as possible, I only give her 3-4 teaspoons of solids at noon |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks Margerle. I bet that's what happened to me with DD. She was about 6 months when I thought she weaned herself. I was crushed. I wish I had kept at it. We probably could have made it through. At least I know now! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | pepperflake,
It happened to me too at 6 months. Between them cutting their first tooth, that change in milk supply, and them just getting to be more mature babies, it kinda felt like DD was newborn again.
Someone talked me into feeding solids, and she seemed to be ok (not really happy, just ok) with that, and sleeping good so I went with it. Looking back I could have avoided much mama heartache if I knew what I know now.
Hopefully I'll be able to go a lot longer with this baby
Hugs to all and so glad things are working out better mickey! |
