Tip Toes

Im debating taking Charlie to see the Dr. She doesnt walk properly.
She walks on her tip toes all the time, she doesnt put her feet down properly.

I remember a friends boy doing this and Im sure he had to see a specialist and he had to have insoles to encourage him to put his feet down properly.

I have also seen links to toe walking ot cerebral palsy

Any one know anything about it?? Would you see the Dr?

See Ive done some reading and the wonderful world of the WWW goes fromone extreme to the other. Some reports have said its fine, and there is nothing to be done. Right to the extreme, saying it is a sign of CP, and even f your child is bright in other areas it can still be CP........so WTF???!!!!

I think Ill have to take her and see for myself. It may just be her muscles ar e a bit tight??

My friends boy has CP and the other signs of that are floppiness to the head, sever dribbling and generally poor muscle tone/co-ordination i am sure this would have been picked up on by now they are hot on stuff like this.

try not to worry and make an appt with G.P coudl just be your tots way of walking for now and is a phase they will outgrow

She walked at a year, and has always walked on her tip toes, had hoped over the last 6 months she would have got a bit better.
Im 100% sure she doesnt have CP, she hit all milestones on time or early, and is bright as a button! It just is crazy how the info can be from one extreme to the other.

hels

I'd put my life on it not being CP.

I've heard of this before and its very common - Its usually down to tight tendons in the backs of the ankles or calfs.
My Nephew had the same problem and it resulted in the affectionate name of "Tommy Tippee Tippee Toes" for a few years.
He wasn't reffered to a specialist until he was 5yrs old because no-one realised it was a problem and assumed it was something he would grow out of. Its a very common problem and often very easily rectifyable.
When he saw a specialist he was shown some special exercises to help loosen the tendons. He had to do these every evening, and in time he learnt to walk normally and no further treatment was required.

I would take Charlie to your GP because the sooner you start these exercises the sooner the problem can be rectified.
