Hemangioma / Strawberry Birthmark

When Mia was born, she had a small red patch of skin on her chest, and another dinky tiny one on her side. When I asked the health visitor about them, she said that as they were just flat patches, they would disappear.
However, in the last week, they have both gotten alot bigger, and alot redder, and have this blistery type appearance ??
Does anyone else have this sort of mark, or have a child with one?? Do they disappear eventually??
Mia's is right in the middle, above her nipples......

My son had a rather large (an inch and a half diameter) strawberry birthmark on the left side of his belly and he is now 6 and it's almost gone, just a tiny spot of the lightest pink is left. It wasn't as bad when he was born but definitely got worse by the time he went back in for next check up a few days later. The doctor said it was that, and that it would recede by the time he was 5 or 6 and he was true to his word, it's almost gone.

I used to babysit a little boy who was born with a tiny red dot on the end of his nose. It turned into a bigger, red blistery type mark. Then decreased in size and by 18months it was totally gone!

Tegan has a red birth mark right between her eyebrows. Its been there since she was born, but its fading gradually. Its not blistery or anything so I'd ask you HV just to be sure

Marlie has a strawberry hemangioma on her head above her hairline. It wasn't there when she was first born, but appeared a few weeks later. It's only small, about the size of a lentil and sticks out slightly, but it has grown since it first appeared. I've read that they grow most in the first 3 months of life, then may grow a bit more before starting to disappear. I had dinner in a restaurant the other day and the owner came over to see Marlie. He saw her strawberry and said his son used to have one as a baby in the middle of his forehead. His son was working at the restaurant too, so he called him over to show us where the strawberry used to be. There was a small skin-coloured bump there that was hardly noticeable now (he's nearly 16). The dad said his strawberry disappeared when he was about 4.

Even though Marlie's is only small, I don't like it. I'm gradually coming to accept it more and more but I hate that it's so visible. I can't wait for her hair to cover it. I'll try and post a picture of it tomorrow.

There are a few other mums on here whose babies have strawberries too.

Sorry for the long post!

My brother had quite a large mark on his palm, it pretty much covered about 70-80% of his hand...it seemed to get redder and redder, but as he grew it started to get smaller. He's 3 now and it disappeared altogether quite a while ago.

Were just advised not to let him cut it (worrying as he was crawling around) incase it bled a lot.
