| I breastfeed my son and I love it. It was really painful to begin with but I kept at it and I'm so pleased I did. I don't judge anyone for their decision how to feed their baby, but I love being able to feed my boy myself. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | at times I have also felt like I am a bad mother because I chose to bottle feed. Its nothing people have said, its just their face when I tell them. The health visitor would not give me advise about which formula to give Amelia.. she was v rude to me. I know they r not supposed to encourage bottle feeding but why not? both me and my sister were bottle fed and its never done us any harm. My IQ is as high as those who were breast fed and I have a university degree so I personally dont believe the hype about breast is best in that way! maybe it is best.. thats what breasts are for afterall.. its just not right for everyone. Lobbin my boobs out ever 4 or less hours was a turn off for me. Not that i'm a prude (is that the word?! lol), I just rathered bottle feed at the time. I may however breast feed if I had another baby.. its up to the individual and no-one has the right to judge. xx |

| I am still BF my DD I would say 4-5 times a day for half an hour and I love it then I give her formula too as she is so hungry love her,she loves her BFd's and it keeps her happy. I amy end up with saggy pups but at end of day I really dont care as long as my children happy. I feel well close to Amelia when I feed and she meets my eye and she sometimes sighs, how sweet is that?
Each to their own and all that I say.

I'm Currently Feeling: | I really want to breast feed, there's a few reasons, but I think it's a personal choice for every woman.
I'm still going to have some formula at home, 'just in case' - a friend of mine breast fed and baby wanted more milk and her breasts were 'empty' cause he'd drank that much, so for a few hours, baby couldn't eat and he wasn't happy!
I was bottle fed, so was almost everyone my age that I know. I was also in the top sets for all my classes, so bottled milk couldn't have done me much harm, soya milk at that cause I had a severe milk allergy! |

| I've breast fed so far.
I truley hated it for the first 3 weeks, adding breast feeding to stitches and baby blues had me in tears a lot and I do understand why people stop, but I was very determined to stick with it for Aeryn's first month. Am glad I did, she's gained and not lost any weight since birth and it is much easier now, dare I say even enjoyable!
I get a lot of satisfaction from knowing that I've sustained this little person all from just my body. Plus in a way my partner is helping by making sure I am eating well, he makes me fruit smoothies and keeps the fridge stocked with snacky stuff, and he knows what goes in to me goes to baby. Just the same as when I was pregnant.
On similar lines I am not a fan of stuff that's come from a packet, or ready meals or anything like that, including formula milk. I prefer to know exactly what is in something and to prepare it myself. So for me breast feeding was the most natural first choice for feeding my baby.
I've expressed (got a little manual pump) a couple of times (this also took some practice) so that partner and my mum could give her a bottle too.
The best part is I've lost all my pregnancy weight already and apart from my slightly saggy middle my figure is better than before I got pregnant, I do attribute a lot of that to breastfeeding. I eat like a horse!
I am not sure how long I will continue however, but my reasons for stopping are more to do with my social life and work than stopping because of not wanting to breastfeed.
I do personally believe that "breast is best" and if you are wanting to give it a go I would say stick with it, it gets easier and you will be pleased as punch when it pays off.
These are my thoughts anyway but, just the same as how you choose to give birth, I believe how you choose to feed your baby is a very personal descision and no one else has the right to judge! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Breast fed my 3 until 6 months. No one in my family had done it and hospital and midwives just let me get on with it! Found it convenient and i enjoyed it. Each to their own i say, but would be nice to have more feeding rooms in shops. | | | | Status: Offline
