Tam, have you tied rubbing your nipple on his nose. I did this with Seren and it made her gape up towards my boob and I could just latch her on that way. I had to take her off and put her back on a couple of times till I got it right but it did work eventually.

Oh Beanie thanks babe, I will have to give this a try!! I will let ya know how it goes.....I am just about healed up now, so will start again on the breast tomorrow, although I have managed to express and he has been having that then topped up with formula, but would love him to latch on!

If I can help at all, please PM me. Breastfeeding can be such a nightmare - I hated the early days but it sounds like you are doing great

[quote="KX"]Here I go::::

What really fucks me off is that in my healtch centre in the weigh in clinic there is a huge poster Breast Vs Bottle, and it list how a breast fed baby is likely to have a higher iq etc, now how do you think that makes the mums of bottle fed babies feel? Well I know it makes me feel shite, that I am making my daughter the under dog just cause I found Breastfeeding more painful than labour.

I just dont think it should be rubbed in peoples faces as much as it is in hospitals, baby clinics etc.

I admire those who do, but cut some slack for thise who dont!

End of....

Sorry [/quote

Right hun let me tell you one thing youve probably read in leaflets that breastfeeding is better than bottle because

1. your baby is less likely to be full of wind (bull) because whatever you eat that could make you windy and your feeding your baby that will make baby windy too

2.it says it will make you baby less likely to have eczema (bull) both mine had just the same as a baby on formula

3.If you go ill your milk goes off i remeber when i was feeeding my first he was 6 months old i went really bad sickness really rundown my milk went like water

4. You do what you find is easier dont let anyone tell you different

5.They dont tell you that breast feeding is more work than bottle
i remeber when i had morgan he would feed for 10 mins then go off to sleep wake up 15 mins later for another feed and it was like that a few hours a night you dont really know how much milk they are taking from you while breast feeding

6.Breastpads in mothercare they are about £4.50 a box for 100 i used to go through loads of boxes a month personally i think that is quiet expensive and its a pain in the backside because if you get a tingly feeling and haven fed baby and you dont change that pad asap you will have a big wet patch on your t-shirt thats embarrasing its a pain in and out of your bra all the time

so im thinking of bottle feeding this baby or maybe breast feed for a month i dunno as i find it a pain in the bum

dont leave any poster get you down as they dont tell you the other facts like its hardwork and the rest

Luke was born small 4lb 4oz and he would chomp on my nipple it was so painful, he never got the hang of it and i persisted for a week they used to top him up with naso gastric feeds but i must admit i wasn't enjoying it, he got so frustrated and i was so sore. i expressed for 5 weeks til my OH went back to work and i have bottle fed since and i was much happier for it.

it took us ages to find the right milk for luke, turns out he was lactose intolerant so we are now on SMA LF(lactose free) and he is a happy baby. for several weeks it was hard work as luke was so uncomfortable with belly ache and bad wind . I now have my happy boy back.

My sister wasn't allowed out of the hospital until Jaksyn had a feed - he went 4 days before finally taking the breast. I was so impressed that the midwives never tried to persuade her to just bottle feed and that she was so determined. She's getting a lot of stick from the father's family though as they all want to babysit but can't because Jaksyn won't take a bottle of expressed milk at all, he just wants the breast (typical male!). My sister is sticking to her guns though and won't be bullied into changing to formula.

good on your sister, why change to formula just so the grandparents can babysit. If she were having problems, baby not gaining weight, then that is different. I always remember MIL trying to persuade me to bottle feed Alisha 'cos she was hungry baby, but i stuck with it, she was gaining weight well, and bf uptil she was nearly 12 months, got to a point where she really wasn't interested, and i wasn't gonna get up at 6am to feed her for her to suck for 2 mins, turn her nose up and go back to sleep

U have to do whats best for u and your baby.
