Unhappy

Bloody poo

This is doing my head in now...after suffering with colic and reflux, then constipation, then diarrhea...the cycle goes on and on. Well Oliver is now back to being severly constipated. He goes once every 2-3days, he screams as he squeezes it out, he cries with tummy ache every day and now his poo is streaked with blood! I give him little bit of waterd down orange juice, vegetable puree's and nothingmakes a difference. I can't bare to see him suffer anymore, it isnt fair.

We're at the doctors every week, docs forever tellin us its normal, he's healthy, i'm being silly, maybe its a tummy bug! arrggh. Only one doc told us she was certain it was a lactose intolerance...then when we saw her again she said it could be some sort of gut disorder! but she wont do anything about it for another month! Has this not gone on long enough? She's been adviced by some specialist at the hospital to wait for a month and then if he's no better they'll strt doing some tests!

I guess thats something achieved mind cus we've been told allsorts-i even got accused of over-feeding him! i knew when he had diarrhea it wasnt a tummy bug, and i was right-they took a stool sample and it was clear... humpph. x

this may sound silly but i'm just throwing out ideas.

I read your post in the mixing Formula thread and you said you take bottles out, make them up and leave them for an hour at most. Just as a trial an error have you throught about making them up as soon as you need them and bringing them to room temp with a little boiled water. I'm just thinking you can't rule out that by leaving the milk it may be giving him tummy ache. The other thing is the water in your area maybe too soft or too hard. Maybe buy the pre made carton formula for a while and see if he stays the same. The reason I say that is because when i went to visit my parents in Gloucestershire (im from norfolk) Matthew suffered badly with dieareah where as when we came home he went back to normal. My HV thought that was the reason.

Hope something helps soon

Thanks. yeah we've tried that..infact we always used to do it that way (i was always worried about leaving bottles mixed up), its only the past few days we've done it like that cus it keeps goin lumpy..but as i say Oli's pretty much had these probs since birth. Cant do the cartons cus he has to have sma staydown, they only supply it in tins..stupid i know! x

hi have you tried rubbing some nappy cream around his bum to help ease the poo out when he is constipated cos the streaks of blood sound like he may have torn himself while pooing also try just giving lots of cooled boiled water to drink it always worked for me also i found with mine that certain brands of baby milk just didnt agree with them and once they were changed the problems with pooing or vomiting eased

I possibly haven't read all your threads, sweetsammi, but from what I read it sounds to me more than just colic!

I suspect sth like an intolerance or other problem with his digestive tract!

send you some support until they can start to make the test
