Just wonderig if there were any other babywearing mummy's. I got into slings a bitlate with my first daughter, she was about 3 months when I got my first pouch sling but I did manage to carry her till 18 months old, when I fellpregnant. this time round I am miles more confident with it all and love carrying my newborn close to me.

buying slings is so damn addictive though

I do, i had a mei tai sling but Adam didnt like it in there, his legs where to sqished up

At teh mo i have a baby born(sp?) sling, he likes that coz his legs are free to kick about.

I also have a brightsparks corrie sling which i love! but Adam wont go in that much anymore and i cant work out how to use it as a hip carry sling

I am planning on using slings / baby carriers a lot, as where we live there's little point in getting a pram for the first few months (no good on the country lanes, paths and beaches ). I'm a bit lost at the mo with all the choice though so any recommendations / advice on which ones to go for will be most appreciated!!

Both my DH and I will need to use it. I've been looking at the Baby Bjorn ones and also the brightspark ones.

I'm addicted to Mama Kangaroo. The babywearing experience is fabulous!!! My only regret is not bringing it to the hospital since other mums told me they had their newborn in it for skin contact from day 1...

I have the regular stretchy wrap and a pouch. The wrap is, for me, the best as you have no strain on your back or shoulders. PLus the little pocket on the front is very practical for credit card and key! I strongly recommend it.

You also get lots of "oooh" and "ahhhhhs" without strangers' hands touching your LO.. big bonus for me. The contact is intimate and people don't go into your bubble like they do with strollers. Besides, it's awesome for crowded places like fairs or malls.

Thanks for the info Simon's mum!! I haven't heard of the Mama Kangaroo make before.

I was just wondering about a few things - is the sling comfortable to wear for long walks? Do you still find it comfortable for Simon now he is a bit older? I'd like to buy one that lasts for as long as possible!!

That's the cutest thing ever!

I wore Alex in a pouch for a while at the beginning, but found it hard to sort Ella whilst he was in the sling. At her age (14 months when Alex was born) she was still very dependant on me and had only just started to walk. If Ella had been older I'm sure I would have worn him more

I've been wearing it for long walks every time without pain. Even to shop for groceries with a backpack on! Simon is only about 18 pounds, though... Other moms have worn it to about 30-35 pounds with their kids. I'll be able to tell later.

As it is very cold right now, I use it over my winter coat while Simon wears a snowsuit. I love it since you can position baby towards yourself or towards the rest of the world. When baby can stand alone, you can wear him on your back as well. And one size fits all so Daddy can enjoy it too.

I so agree with this. People have to ask to look at Cally as she is usually covered up and cuddled close.Plus she sleeps like a dream in it. I love the fact she is close to me, and it is somuch easier to carry her in this as she is secure, the weight is spread out over my back and I can look after Seren as my hands are free.

Kina introduced me to slings when I had DD. I was so glad of my brightspark coorie sling as Olivia didn't like to be put down much! DH preferred a carrier (a BabyBjorn). This time with Finlay I do use my Coorie pouch sling a fair bit when we're out and about, mainly because I find it so easy to put on and pop him in it if we're out and about just the two of us. I also like the fact that I can sit down and easily manouvre him in it to give him a feed.

I like the look of your huggabub ones etc but are they not really tricky to get on and off?

The Huggabub seems to be like the Mama Kangaroo. It's basically an approx. 7 foot long piece of fabric, right? If so, I can say it's really not tricky once you try it a few times. Mine came with clear instructions and some mommy groups often have "clinics" to help you try it out first. Maybe it's available in your area as well.. I tried mine when I was 6-7 months pregnant using a doll!!! LOL!
