Ben

What does everyone think to ben ? H thinks that the Mick would be tacken (bend-over)

am I naive to think that children will not think of silly things like this?

I don't personally care for the name Ben or Benjamin -- but it's fairly commonly used & i i've never heard anyone tease the name....

this is strange as i was literally just thinking about this name a few minutes ago, and im not even pregnant.
i really like the name, but i dont like benjamin. benedict is alright.
kids can find some silly way to take the mick out of every single name. yes "bend over" is a possibility but you can do this for everything.
the only thing that kind of gets to me is, even though i like to think of less traditional, more unusual names, i havent heard of a ben any younger than 18 right now. has it entirely gone out of fashion?xxxx

I love Ben, and have a cousin and a nephew with the name (different sides of the family) Both of them have a couple of other Bens in their nursery/school class, so its quite a popular name x

I like Benjamin, shortened to Benji or Ben. Kids will always find something to pick on, I wouldn't say Ben was a particularly bully-worthy name.

I LOVE Ben!! I don't think it would provoke bullying any more than any other name... unless your surname is Dover!

I had to take it off my list because I work with a guy called Ben who I really can't stand, and who is so arrogant he would be sure to go on and on (and on and on) about how we'd named our son after him. Yuck!

My son Ben is only 8, but so far has not had any bullying of any kind over his name.

xx

I like it - my brother is called Ben (Benjamin but never ever been called that!) and has never had any sort of mickey taking out of his name (he's 28 now!).

I think if kids are going to find something they'll find it, I'd say Ben is a name that's fairly low on the scale for teasing possibilities!! I don't know of any little boys called Ben either, probably differs between areas.

Benjamin was actually on our short list for a boy...so far I haven't meet a benjamin, which is always a bonus so you don't already connect a person with that name.
And i think the nick Ben is lovely.
