Isla???

I love the name Isla but i pronounce it I-S-LA but think it's meant to be pronounced I-LA. Do you think that matters or is there another spelling for I-S-LA? Thanks.

I may be being dumb, but I don't understand your pronunciation ... Like...ICE-LA, IS-LA? Confused...

I do like the name Isla though, it's pretty without being overly 'girly' iykwim?

it is usually pronounced 'eye-la' but you can have it pronounced how you want! i have a girl in my class called Kia which is pronounced as 'ky-a'. it took me ages to get used to as i always try and say 'key-a'

we love the name isla for a girl. but OH's surname is White....

didn't want to name the poor girl after a channel island!!!!

LOL! I had the same problem with Brooke as the surname is Wall. Too close to brick! Maybe change the spelling to make more sense like Isala?

I like the name Isla, and if you want it pronounced differently then you will just have to correct people. I have to do that with my daughters name, a few get it right, but a lot dont . Her name is Shani, pronounced Shaynee, but lots of people pronounce it Sharnie . It does get a bit annoying to keep correcting people though, sometimes wish id spelt it differently. xx

The name is pronounced Eye Lah so you will have to probably change the spelling somehow. I do love the name Isla though!

I love it- would pronounce it Eyela. However it will forever remind me of revision as I couldn't fit Islam on my timetable and had to put Isla, so that is what I have called it ever since... Don't think my daughter would appreciate being named after a religion!
