Rowan Alexander James is lovely, it will suit a child and a adult and is not very common so he wont be one of five Rowans in his class.

With regard to Pixie Isobel Nuala, Isobel is lovely I am not entirely sure how to pronouce Nuala and if it was her first name I would suggest that you consider that as it is a problem she will have to deal with alot, as her middle name though it is not really an issue.

I personally don't think Pixie is the best idea for anyone's name, it will be cute when she is a baby and a toddler but she will out grow it quickly. Its a hard name to take seriously and when she is older she will want to be taken seriously.

Things to consider:
  • When she starts working and wants to apply for jobs putting Pixie on her CV might cause potential employers to discard it, they may assume its a nickname or a joke.
  • If she ends up either tall or a larger size the name could seem like an invitation to make jokes about her appearance which would be horrible.
  • The name draws attention and regardless of the appearance issue mentioned above will be commented on constantly. I knew a guy named Merlin, he had to wear an alternative name badge at work just to avoid the constant comments from customers.
  • Pixie will grow up, can you imagine the name Pixie on a middle aged woman?

Sorry that was long, I just wanted you to really consider all the options. Pixie could be a nickname but something more formal on the birth certificate may be an asset to your daughter, or you could swap Pixie and Isobel round on the birth certificate and still call her Pixie so later on for work and similar she could use the more formal Isobel.

As you seem to like nature names here are some suggestions the are directly nature related or have nature related meaning:

Violet
Dahlia
Iris
Ivy
Autumn
Brooke
Daisy
Rose
April
Aurora
Dawn
Anthea
Calanthe
Fleur
Ianthe

Rowan Alexander James is a stunner-I love it, classic beautiful name for anyone

Pixie Isobel Nuala- Sorry,I had the complete opposite reaction, I really dislike it. Pixie makes me think of gnarly little elves with pointy green hats and warty fingers. I also agree with the poster who pointed out it will be difficult to live with as an adult. It sounds childlike and nicknamey and she'll be forever getting comments (good and bad-either of which can become annoying)

Isobel is a fine name, just not one I like personally. Nuala (I assume pronounced nwarla?) isn't so bad but again not one I'd personally choose

If I were you I'd go Isobel Pixie Nuala or Isobel Nuala Pixie instead

Still have to say what a cracker of a boys name though and it's totally your choice for your little one

If you like your names then go for it . You've obviously put a lot of effort into choosing them, Pixie is still a relatively new name, but with the new singer Pixie Lott around Im sure that its going to become popular and therefore not so 'far out'. I think its actually quite nice, as is Rowan. xx

Congratulations on choosing your final names...I have to say though, if you are anything like me, you will probably change your mind a million and one times before baby comes!!!

Rowan Alexander James - I love Alexander, it was on my list. And James is a lovely middle name, would have been one of my choices but its my nephews middle name. As for Rowan, I don't like it. Firstly because it reminds me of Rowan Atkinson aka Mr Bean but to be honest, even if it wasn't for Mr Bean I still don't think I'd like it. Just not for me I suppose.

Pixie Isobel Nuala - I agree with the other comments to be honest. I love Isobel, although prefer Isabella Nuala I don't know how to pronounce but its a middle name so doesn't matter too much. And Pixie, I actually like this, but I think I'd call my pet Pixie rather than my child. Which is not an insult to the name at all, its lovely, I just think (as other people pointed out) that it doesn't really suit an older woman.

BUT...they are just my opinions, you obviously love the names hence the reason you chose them!! So go for it

xx

Thanks for all the comments

Glad everyone almost everyone likes Rowan lol!

And Pixie we just love, like one of the posters said with a few celebs called Pixie it might become a bit more popular. And also in 15/20 years there will be lots of weird and unusual names out there, so yes I can imagine Pixie as a middle aged woman! All names have to start out unusual at first And if she decides she doesn't like Pixie she can use Isobel which isnt unusual!

Isobel is the scottish spelling of Isabelle. We prefer the scottish spelling to keep in with my hertigage.

And Nuala is pronounced Noo lah, its irish. DH's late grandmother was called Nuala and it means alot to him and his family to have it as a middle name

Thanks again! xxx
