How you came up with the name?

How did everyone come up with the names and spelling for their childrens names

I named my Daughter Jaymee Elizabeth . i always loved the name Jamie just not the spelling so i looked up different ways to spell it and how i spelt it is how it said to pronounce it (Jay-Mee) and as for Elizabeth its my middle name and it flowed really nicely with Jaymee
Had Jaymee been a boy her name would of been Joshua Logan . Joshua after my boyfriends friend that died as a child infront of my boyfriend (got hit by a car) and Logan from the movie X-men (wolverine) im in love with Huge jackman so i wanted to have a name sake for him lol ,

I had my muchal scan yesterday and the technician said that the nub looked like a girl , so she's going to be called Madeleine May, Madeleine is my nans name, and May is my other nans middle name, I would have used her first name, Iris, but she hated it and never used it herself. (she died two years ago). xx

I'm in the process of picking a name for my unborn child. My girlfriend's auntie said to me some weeks back "choosing a name for your child is the hardest decision you'll ever have to make". Initially I didn't agree but I'm beginning to understand! Her words did not help me and I suspect this post will not help anyone reading it, but my point is: its a tricky one!

We both liked Marlo (as in Marlo Thomas the actress), but we liked the spelling Marlowe more. Joan is my mom's name (she passed away the year before Marlie was born). We had two names before she was born, Marlowe Joan and Adelaide Rose (Adelaide is the girl's name in Guys and Dolls and that musical reminds me of my mom) and were going to decide when she arrived. When she was born, after a few hours, every time I said Marlowe Joan, she would make a face that reminded me of my mom so we went with that.

**To add to this though, a few months ago, my sister was pregnant and looking through her old book of baby names which my mom had been highlighting with names she liked before she passed away, and Marlo was highlighted! So I think she helped us make a good choice.

Mu daughters name is Leigha-Rose June
My sons is Thomas William

Chose Leigha as we always liked the name Leah, but we spelt it Leigha cos its english and i think its prettier. Rose was cos my mum always wanted to call her daughter rose but my dad said he didnt like it...so that was my tribute to her. And June cos thats the month she was born in and her two great nans on my OHs side is called June.

Thomas William - hes named after my grandad...hes the best man ive ever known and i idolise him. (These names r his middle names)
I wanted to spell it Tomas, but Mike wanted it the traditional way.

lets see with Jacob my DH wanted his initials JLJ and I was dead set on Levi so he said how bout Jacob and we put it together and it worked perfect except he was originally supposed to be called Levi but it didnt happen but he is definatly a Jacob! with this one DH said how bout Lucas and I loved it but his middle name has been a challenge but finally we have decided on Charlie- my DH suggested it and my mom said it was my great grandpas name so it has meaning and its the only name that sticks out to me so he is Lucas Charlie also I found out that DH suggested Lucas because he wanted to have a Jake and a Luke but thats how a man thinks he also wanted to say the famous saying "Luke I am your father" from the star wars movies in which he says to my bump all the time it gets annoying

My son is joshua-lee , Joshua just because it's not used much at the time i picked it & because any shortened version i have to like which alot of other names i dont, & lee is one of my brothers who i've always been very close to.

I'm calling this baby Jaxon-Ted , Jaxon because i like the name & the spelling is different to jackson ( i cant stand jack ) again i like the shortened version with jaxon, of jax . Ted is my grandad who died, he was everything & missed dearly. He was called edward but actually know as ted. So Jaxon will also get j.t

My son's name is going to be Ares Aiden. Ares as in the god of war (daddy picked it out). It's pronounced aries, but we liked the spelling better that way, and the other way it changes the meaning from the god of war to the ram, as in the zodiac sign. Haha.
