Did anyone suffer with spd severely in subsequent pregnancies and if so how did you cop with your other lo's when you couldnt get out and about with school run etc.
Also how much gap between pregnancies did you have?? xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I didn't have it at all with my first. Dd was 9 month old when I fell preg with ds and from about 20 weeks I got spd. To be honest we just coped, I didn't really have a choice lol we did have to stop going to playgroups vecause it was quite a walk to get there, but I made the fun come to dd at home :-)

Honestly, I don't think dd notcied any difference at all, and that was my main worry when I was diagnosed. I do believe it is more commen if you have had it before to get it in pregnancies but not all the time. And for me I didn't get it at all in my first but suffered in my second.

I had SPD in both pregnancies, 2nd was worse than the 1st and I ended up with crutches and attending physio every week. I got my BFP the week before my eldests 3rd birthday.

She was at nursery, but I drove her there any way but getting in/out of the car was a struggle, I ended up having something like 2 months off work sick due to it.

I dont have any family here and DH works long shifts so I had no choice other than to 'just get on with it' it wasnt easy but we did it.

xx

Can see your concerns, dont really have any advice, other than if SPD flares up make sure you let your midwife know as soon as it does so you can get appoinments for physio and stuff. I had acupuncture for mine too.

Mine was really bad with this last pregnancy... as others have said... I just had to get on with it. We don't go out much anyway so it didn't really get in the way, I just got really slow there towards the end. My son didn't seem to notice too much, except he'd get frustrated with me when I didn't want to go galloping around the backyard with him.

I did not have this with my first, but did with my second. What I am concerned about now is the fact that it has not gone away. I have good days; it isn't like when I was pregnant. But the pain is severe some days and I can barely get in and out of the car or up and down our steps. I am still sleeping on the couch, which I started about doing while stilll pregnant. The bed is too hard, and it hurts my hips and is agony trying to roll over.

My son is 11 weeks, and I have read that SPD can sometimes linger for months. I'm also an "older" mom, 44, so I think that is why it may still be around. But trust me, I was not hobbling around like an old lady last year!
I run a non-profit that plants trees and I get in there and work as well! I wasn't the most limber or fit person, but I wasn't the stiff, hobbling mess that I am some days now!

Vintage67: I had to use a wheelchair when I was pg as my spd was so bad, lo is six months old and I still have it, im having more good days now but still can't manage long wals etc, I found that those trainers that are supposedly to help tighten your bum, the ones with the rocking sole, mine are avia avi-motion ones, they are brilliant I can do the shopping without needing a lie down and it takes much longer for the pain to start. Maybe call to a sports shop and try a pair?
Tummy mummy: I've read your other posts and i think you will just cope, that's all you can do really after a few months it will be over and you will have your beautiful baby in your arms and then it won't matter.
