Are 2 dummies enough for a newborn?

will two dummies be plenty for a newborn because i know they don't last forever but they'll last at least a few months won't they? (Don't want to use them for too long)

And also, i will be using bibs for milk feeds...how many of those will i need at the start? (dont want to get loads until i start solids)

I have about 10 lol but then she is always dropping hers. I'd say for a newborn thats fine, but when baby gets older you will need more.

I got dummies for Anna when she was a few weeks old - just to settle her when she is getting her nappy changed etc - I only have 2 - sterilise her bottles twice a day and pop the dummies in with the bottles to sterilise then too.

Bibs - I never bought any - but was given plenty as gifts which was lucky!! I have about 20 and that does us ok!

We have three pacifiers and are constantly losing at least one of them, so I would suggest getting three or four!

yep i too would suggest getting a few more. i'd also recommend getting a little box to pop them in, they sell them in places like mothercare or boots, with the dummies, as it keeps them nice and fresh, and like someone said, they always lose them
also, i'd say quite a few bibs, as with milk, babies often bring a little up every feed, so i found you could go through 2 bibs per feed, and they normally feed around 6times a day, which is often why you need quite a few changes of clothes, like sleepsuits too!

I would suggest getting 5 -6. Although I wouldn't say you would need to sterlise them all the time when he/she is a few weeks only for a very newborn I would sterlise regulary - if they get dropped etc. Also they seemed to get lost all the time!

I'd caution against buying loads of dummies. I spent a fortune trying to find a kind wihch Bethan would take and gave up eventually as she refused them all. She just about tolerated the cheap mothercare cherry ones but that was at a push.

I BF so dont really use bibs, I did use to give BF top ups and found muslin cloths much better than bibs as you could cover most of baby up.

Also jack had a habit (we weaned him off the dummy two weeks ago) of getting milk inside the latex part some how. They then had to be binned. I would say we would buy a pack of dummies every two weeks.

The other thing I would say though is if you want your LO to have a dummy - don't by loads of the same brand at first as sometimes they perfer one shap over another. Maybe buy a couple of different brands and then see how it goes. Jack loved the advent but hated the tommie tippee. x

We only have 2 dummies, but I always make sure one of them is sterilised, so if she drops one she can have another back straight away We got a pack of 2 tommee tippee ones and they came with a little microwave steriliser box which is really handy as they only take 90 seconds.

As for bibs, we get through loads so I'd advise you stock up!
