Bouncy Chair

Hi Ladies,

Quick question about your use of your bouncy chairs!

Every day Dylan is becoming more and more awake - he is a premmie and his due date is tomorrow! So I talk to him, sing, dance - yesterday we gave a good 30 minute performance to the Glee soundtrack! But obviously as all of us know we have got to get things done!

Now as he was a premmie his bouncy chair was way too big but we've started to introduce it slowly and today I've plonked him in it while I wash up, tidy etc!

My question (after the waffling) is to ask if you ladies leave your little ones in their bouncy chairs if/when they fall asleep or do you move them into their moses baskets etc?

I was told by my midwife to only keep my Lo in his chair for an hour max (this was when he was 2 weekds old, he was 3days over due date) even now I don't put him in it for long as he leans to one side, I put him in his pram with a toy arch when I'm doing jobs. He. usually falls asleep in there after a while.

My LO took the majority of his naps in his bouncy chair until he was 4 months old. But only once he could support his head well and was comfortable in it.

this.. Laila has a flat head on one side and when laid flat she always falls to that side and stays there.. in her chair she moves to the other side.

Anna is in her bouncy chair quite a bit during the day and she will fall asleep and I just leave her. She has good head control and the chair is well reclined and has a head support on it.

Anna is in her chair for easily 6 hours a day - hope thats not too much!!

If your chair is too big put rolled up blankets along the sides - worked for us

My LO was three months prem and I used her bouncer a lot! She slept in it during the day for the first two months I had her home so she would have been five months but two months corrected, it was a god send. I would put her in there whilst I had a shower, did housework, cooked dinner...then after two months we started to put her in her cot for naps as she was beginning to move a bit more.

I tend to wait until she is sound asleep and then move her into her moses basket. That being said, I think it's only happened 3 times in the last month lol I tend to pop her on her play mat if I have to do anything while she's awake at the moment, especially if I have to leave the room (but that's partly as I have a hyper 3 year old running round too! lol)

On the unforeseen day that my LO decided he was going to fall asleep on his own in his bouncer... you bet I'd leave him there!
