i was told by midwife's nothing but milk etc till 6 months but i have weaned my wee boy earlier due to the size of him and the constant craving for milk he had! So he doesn't get alot of water in a day he has his little dinner around 4-5 and i will make up an ounce or two of water to wash it down with but he gets his milk as normal an hour later. My daughter however i remember drank alot more water, but it was the summertime when she was a baby so perhaps thats why. So in answer to your question around 1-2 ounce a day but he barely finishes it.

Before we started weaning, we only gave water when Leyla was a bit constipated or when she was poorly and couldn't keep milk down. If it had been hot though, I might've given her an oz or so of water a day if she wanted it. Now we're introducing solids, I usually give her a drink of water while she's eating as we're doing baby led weaning and she sometimes gets her mouth all dried up with bread etc!!!

i think its a great idea between feeds, it was my grandad that told me to do it considering sometimes im sure he is just thirsty and not hungry, theres no way he can want to eat as often as he does! I just give him the odd 2 oz now and then x

I never thought Carter needed water but than he started solids and got constipated so i have started giving him an ounce of water with his solids twice a day. He doesnt usually take all of it but most of it he does. Other than that hes never needed water as he got enough from his formula.

Rocco is almost 10 months and the pediatrician said he doesn't really need to have it because it would just be empty calories. And she said to only give him juice if he's constipated. I do give him a little water, but just to help him practice with his sippy cup, so he doesn't spill something sticky everywhere! lol

She's started to get an ounce a day just this week. Was advised to do this so she gets used to the taste, or lack of, as she may reject it when she's a bit older.

I cant get water down my LO, she just spits it out again. HV said its fine and not to worry she doesnt need it??? I do worry and try all the time to give her water, surely humans need water to survive??? Thats my thoughts on it, but also asked doc yesterday as my LO has a viral infection and has been sick so I asked again about her not taking water, he just said give her milk. she doesnt need water
