Does anyone get 'your a young parent' speech

Ive actually had enough of it, when i went to the drs he went on saying i was a young parent and assuming all i do is dump LO infront of the TV all day, dnt pay her any attention, will give her chocolate at an early age and thats why she screams at her bottle. Im like excuse me ? Yes i AM a young parent, but does that mean young parents cant look after a child as good as an older parent could, does that give us NO rights in worrying for our children. To be fair im not really that young, but 14, 16, 23, 30, 40, 50 i parent my child MY way.. why do people have to be steriotypical

I was young with my first 2 (17 & 19) and then quite a bit older with my 3rd (23). The only thing that changed the way I parent is exerience... not my age.

I got that speech quite a bit when I was younger, and even know when I say I have a 6year old (7 in one month), a 4 year old (5 in 2 months), and a 4 month old when I am only 24 yeah, I get the looks all the time.

But my girls are well rounded, happy, active children.

People still doubt your parenting abilities when you're in your late twenties I'm afraid.

If you feel your doctor made unfair assumptions / comments about you, then you could make a complaint to the practice manager. Doctors should not behave like that, they should listen and not judge. Otherwise people won't go to see them!

I'm quite surprised that i haven't had the young parenting speech or anything! I think people are more concerned that i'm a single mum rather than a young mum!

I agree with blooblinds, i get the single mum crap rather than young mum, a few people have commented on both but i dont think 23 is too young by any means anyway so i ignore them. litterally. they get the hint

Totally agree with this. I'm 27, well educated, devoted to my child 100% and by no means stupid but still my HV speaks to me as if i'm not only deaf but mentally ********. It drives me insane I think some health care professionals are just like this regardless of your age.
