dont worry dougie, Im 24 in June and live at home still, and even my own GRAN and auntie assume i palm my daughter off onto my mum to go out shopping with friends, lunch, dinner, or just out and about. They are all '' what did you do with ava? are YOU TAKING HER?? '' '' oh you are?? '' ''yes.. of course? why wouldnt i? '' '' oh, just thought your mum would have her? '' DOES MY NUT IN. Ive left her twice, for two nights out. Any lunch's or dinners or going to friends houses or shopping or whatever, she comes with me! Its bad when people judge, but its worse when its your own family.

maybe we should all wear a badge or soemthing, tell people to stop judging!

People are always going to have something to say.

I've found I'm starting to ignore the negative looks and comments about me having 4 kids at 22 (Had them at 17, 19, 20 and 22) and focus on the positive. A woman stopped me in the shop the other day to tell me how gorgeous my 4 kiddies were, would much rather concentrate on comments like that than beat myself up over the bad comments I get. It's so easy to let the negative stuff get to you though.

Totally agree with this. I'm 27, well educated, devoted to my child 100% and by no means stupid but still my HV speaks to me as if i'm not only deaf but mentally ********. It drives me insane I think some health care professionals are just like this regardless of your age.
I get the same at 29, I refuse to go to one of the GPs at my practice because he's so patronising like this. He was always like this though, before I had my baby no matter what I went in about he asked me if I was pregnant. "no". "are you sure", "yes, I'm sure", "do you think we should do a test just in case?" "erm, no. Please can I have my physio referral/can you check my throat infection........?"

Yep, I get this too. I'm 22, but look younger, and get some awful looks and attitude sometimes. Health Care professionals seem to assume I'm stupid, feckless and similar things. Although, my favourite reaction is when they find out I breastfeed AND cloth nappy; you'd have thought I told them I was a fairy princess in a castle made of cheese the face they make!

I think it's really bizarre tbh.

Like has been said, everyone I know who's my age had them at around 20-25, both mine and hubbys parents had us at 24 so to me early twenties has always been 'normal'. These days people are having kids as young as 14 and yet twenty-somethings are called young mums? You'd think we'd be called old these days, you know? It's mental. It made me laugh when One Born Every Minute did their young mum special last week and the two mums were 17 and 23!
