At what age does the threat of SIDS go away?

If at all....

Just out of interest, does anyone know?

I may be being thick but is there an age where it becomes very very rare for it to happen, or when it would be described as 'unexplained death'.

I know there is a similar thing in adults called SADS, but just wondered what was in between??

Thanks. x

I think 6 months is the time is really drops - we were bought back to earth with a bump last week as one of the ladies in our bumps and babies group lost her daughter at 18 weeks to SIDS, just when we were all starting to relax a bit

Poor, poor woman. How awful.

It's utterly terrifying - apparently it reduces greatly at 6 months, and then by 1 year the risk is almost gone.

Just awful.

Poor family, how tragic.

It's strange, I was wondering about this in bed last night.
