whats gone wrong....what happend to my little sleeper?? Waking in night question :(

ruby has been a great sleeper for about 3 mths and I can prob count on one hand the amount of times she has woken in the night.

The last two nights however she is waking for about 2 hrs and just talking and gurgling to her fish....She is really loud and screeches ( happy ) she's not calling out for me, though last night after 2 hrs I did put a bottle in her mouth to shut her up, which she quite greatfully took. I didn't really want to do that as dont want to start that game.

she always has her last bottle at 7 as she has always refused a dream feed.. But i really dont think its hunger because if she is hungry she screams like a monster!!

Any ideas??? she's 5 mths 1 week x

My initial thought would be growth spurt though they do say that babies become more unsettled at night as they learn new things - their brain goes on overdrive. I'm having this with Z at the moment, she wakes up at 4-5am gurgling and talking to herself and if I give her a bottle she will down the whole lot and go back to sleep.

(PS don't you love how the answer to nearly everything is "Growth Spurt" )

My LO was a great sleeper up until 6.5 months.....I tried everything before hand to help with it but nothing made her sleep through, she then started sleeping through at 8.5 months, for no reason what so ever, then when ever shes starting with the cold I know as shes up 3 or 4 times during the night, but other than that there was no explanation I think it must just be one of those things you canno control. Prob just a blip and they will sleep through again shortly!

Aha! I'm not the only one then!! Georgia has not really been up through the night since she was about 8 weeks and last night she was up for and hour and a quarter. Like Ruby not really crying for me, just wide awake and ready to play!

I've had a couple of instances of this a few weeks ago, when she went into her big cot, but I put it down to the fact that she had more room to move about and I was finding her facing the opposite the way with no covers, so I think she may have been a bit cold. I was able to move her back, put the covers on and tell her 'it's still sleepy time' and she went over. This only happened maybe three times the first week. She's been in her cot about 6 weeks now and I thought we were over that hurdle. But last night she just wouldn't go back to sleep. I did change her and give her a cuddle at that point, but other than that I left her to her own devices, like you I don't really want to start the bottle in the night thing again, so I managed to hold out but I was getting really tempted. I was inteding to leave it and give her some at the 90min mark, but thanfully she fell asleep 15 mins before that.

I have no idea what the reason is or how to get over it, but its good to know others are in exactly the same boat. Interestingly Georgia is only 2 days older than Ruby, so pretty much exactly the same age!

She will NOT sleep in a sleeping bag, as she can't get to kick her legs! I'm hoping its just a glitch!!
