Was in car crash at weekend with LO!!!

I just wanted to share with you all a really upsetting weekend me and my family have had. We were involved in a pretty bad car crash at the weekend with the LO in the car and needless to say it's left me pretty shook up.

LO was fine though, got a few knocks to the head from the car seat and after he calmed down he was OK, and later got the all clear at the hospital. Must admit since then he has been very drowsy and lethargic. I got him checked out again because I was so worried as he wasn't his usual self but the doctor thinks its the sickness and diahorrea bug he has rather than his head injury.

I cannot stress how much I appreciate car seats and safety now. You really never think it is going to happen to you, and then it happens out the blue! Please please please don't take risks with the safety of your baby. Make sure you buy a brand new car seat from a reputable company and check and double check that s/he is strapped in safely every time.

Story goes, we were waiting in a traffic queue at a roundabout and some stupid stupid stupid cow wasn't paying attention. She slammed into the back of us at around 60mph. That shunted us into the guy in front and spun us into oncoming traffic. Thankfully they were able to slow down before we were hit again. The woman was going so fast she then proceeded to slam into the guy in front of us.

I'm so angry that the police class it as a minor shunt and won't press criminal damages. I know there were no major injuries or fatalities, but she could have killed innocent lives! In fact, I know for sure if my OH had put on his hand break our back end would have taken the entire hit and my boy would not be here today. I know it is procedure to put a hand break on when you are not moving, but seriously, knowing what could happen if someone slammed into the back of you so fast, I would rather leave the hand break off!!

I am just so glad we were able to walk away!!!

Oh how scary. Glad you are all ok. I had a near miss on a patch of ice and was terrified. All I could think about was what could have happened to my LO.

Thanks everyone. I know how you feel Ames, above everything in this world car crashes are my worst and ultimate fear, more so now with LO. Maybe because no matter how safe you drive there are other idiots on the road, and it doesn't take much for something to happen. A little bit of ice, someone answering a text while driving etc.
