Car Seat Recommendations

Findlay has a lie flat car seat that turns into an upright rear facing car seat however due to his low tone the upright position is far too upright for him as he cannot hold his head well enough a lot of the time so we are looking for a new car seat to use for shorter journeys (longer ones we will continue to use the current seat in the lie flat position)

Our requirements are:

1. we'd like to get as much value for money out of it as possible so if we can get one that is a group 0-1 that would be great as that will last him for absolutely years at the rate he grows.

2. one that has got plenty of padding would be good as he is only little (11lb 5oz now )

3. I don't know if multi recline positions can be used whilst a seat is rear facing but if they can that would also be good (we won't be forward facing for a very long time)

Are stage 0 car seats likely to have a more reclined seating position than a 0-1 car seat?

Any recommendations would be fab, I had no idea the world of car seats was so confusing!

I'm no expert but the group 0 seat I have, the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix, is for babies up to 13kg (about 28lb) and has quite a reclined seating position, and comes with lots of padding, that can be removed if necessary.

I would have thought group 0 seats have a more reclined seating position than a 0-1, but can anyone else confirm this?

What you need to do is take lo to somewhere that has a range of carseats you can try him in and find one that suits also check your car as Uou need to pick from iso fix and non iso fix. I have maxi-cosi iso fix and it has loads of padding.

Looking at mine it's possible to add more padding you would just have to tread this through the straps...

Have the Jane Strata and love it, really secure, loads of padding and one of the safest seats on the market. It also has 2 positions, semi reclined for teenies and then the normal angle from about 3 months..

I would try him in some seats as well. But if you are looking for a seat that will RF him for a very long time maybe check out this site www.carseat.se there are seats that RF up to 55lbs. But I was looking for you and most of those start for older babies but I did notice the BeSafe Izikid X3 fits from birth and looks very well padded. You can email that site and they can tell you if the seats work in your car and you can also ask about how far reclined they can be when you install them so you know if it will be reclined enough for him. Most newborns need 45 degree recline
