worried and no Im not going to sleep.

i posted this morning about this because when I woke I found my daughter on her tummy ( she's 5 mths ) I think she did it when she was awake. She has only just learnt to do this. Today I made sure i gave her plenty of tummy time and a couple of time she rolled on to her back, but what concerns me is when she was getting tired she just flopped her face on the floor and started moaning. she does have very good head control and can hold it high, but she never lays on her tummy with her head to the side.

Will she be ok

oh and should have been in title "know, not no" duh

There's not really much you can do to stop her once she has learnt this. She will sleep in whatever position she finds comfy if she can move about. If your really worried you could try one of those sleep positioner cushions or roll up to blankets/towels either side of her under her arms - may just keep her from rolling for now?

I put Mirren down to sleep on her tummy so would be surprised to find her on her back in the morning, lol.

If you're that worried, maybe you could use a baby monitor with a sensor pad to monitor her breathing? I know the angelcare one can be used without sound if you don't want to hear her making noise in the night. Mothercare and Amazon both have them for under £70 at the moment.

I've got the angelcare monitor with the mattress pad and I find it really reassuring now H is a bit more mobile and can roll about. I had heard a lot about false alarms if they move off the pad itself but H moves about all over the place and the sensor seems to be able to still detect his movements wherever he is.

The only false alarm we've ever had is when we pick DS up without turning it off!

She'll be fine - if she is able to roll and i assume she can lift her head of the floor during tummy time then she wont suffocate on her tummy. Once they can turn over by themselves its not a danger to be on their tummy its only 'recommended' when they are small that they shouldnt sleep on their tummy. If she rolls over and gets annoyed im sure she will moan/cry to let you know. All babies go trhough this stage of development.

Freya has started doing this - I'm not sure whether in her sleep or she wakes and turns over, but (as the pp suggested) she starts crying when she has had enough and I hear her on the monitor and go in and turn her over. Also I too have heard that once a baby can turn over themselves they are safe to sleep on there tummy's if thats what they choose.

I will be losing sleep as well once my daughter is doing that. Hope you get some rest and just keep an eye on your little one.
