Jumperoo and baby toys....

I am wondering if my baby is old enough for a toy like a jumperoo and if not, what other toys might be fun for her. I have seen a loot fo cheap second hand stuff on craigslist and I would like to get her a toy on payday. The jumperoos look really neat! She can hold her head up pretty well. We have a baby playmat gym thing and it is fun for her but it always falls down and I am worried it will fall on her head....also she always ends up kicking it, as it wont stay up! Any suggestions?

We have a playmat that Megan loves - dont have an issue of it falling down though - maybe try a different one? She loves to kick and bat at the toys. We bought a jumperoo a few weeks ago as Megan can hold her head up really well - but she is too little for it yet. She is too short as her legs dont quite reach the ground. A pillow didnt give her enough to push off from so she wouldnt put any weight on her legs and phone book just made her feet slide off. We are going to be waiting a few more weeks with it til we try again.

Megan likes her mobile and any of the baby einstein toys that have the yellow caterpillar face. She also likes animals - we realized she loves talking to a teddy bear and any of the blankets that have animal faces she is mesmorized by. She talks and smiles at her animals on her bouncer as well. She really likes a small ball that has another ball inside that makes noise when it moves around - it might be baby einstein too - I put it inbetween her legs as she is laying on her back and she does a soccer type kick with it between her legs. Mirrors are also a big hit at the moment too. So really she isnt into any of the "big" toys atm as far as jumperoo, exersaucers, riding toys, etc - she has plenty of time .... she's growing up far too fast as it is!

thanks a lot! baby einstein sounds like a good way to go. How tall/long is your little girl? Mine is 25 inches, so pretty tall, and she likes to stand on Daddy's lap...maybe ill buy a jumperoo and if it's a no go we will keep it for later like you are doing. thanks for the advice!

I think she is between 23-24" right now & she LOVES standing which is why we thought it would be perfect for her. So we are still doing the standing on mom and dad - its her favorite thing to do lately besides eat her hands - LOL I'm sure soon Megan will love the jumperoo - like it will be her favorite toy once she is big enough.

Maybe 25" is tall enough - think Megan is very long torso but short legs so that is the issue w/ the jumperoo.

Jumperoo are supposed to be for 6 month (what it says on the box) but we got one for JAck at four months - he feet just touched the floor and he loves it. But I think his is probably the earliest it would have been suitable for him.

Jack really has only started to pay attention to "toys" in the past 4-5 weeks before then he wasn't really intererest.

However the best thing we got - rather than a play mat- was a single duvet and cover (dinosaurs) and put that down on the floor for him to lie on. He seemed much happier on that than a play mat for some reason.

The first toys he was really interest him was a soft toy with a rattle in the middle. He a soft car shaped like a carrot with wheels driven by a bunny and it rattles when you shake it. He loves this for some reason, and it was the first thing he really paid attention to.
