Hi girls

Abi is 6 wks Sat and seems to have oral thrush

I know diff between thrush and milk residue diff is obvious - any1 else had experience of this? I'm waiting for call back of doctor and she's just calmed down after screaming crying as I gave her some steralised warm water!

Any advice appreciated? xxx

My little lad had it at 9 weeks. He wasnt in anyway distressed with it though. He wasnt off his milk and his form was fine. I used Daktarin gel under the advice of my doctor, and it cleared up within 2 days. You can get the gel over the counter but i would wait for the doctor to ring you back and see what they say as she is only 6 weeks.

Sorry... I'm not really sure what it looks like.. is she still latching right? I've heard that if they keep popping off or seem uncomfortable feeding it could be thrush.

I told my HV my symptoms and she thinks I have thrush in my breasts.. which I guess means LO will get it if she doesn't have it already, so they've written me a prescription to treat both me and baby. If they pass on any useful advice I'll pop back by.

Sorry I don't really have any helpful advice at the moment.

Daktarin oral gel. Don't settle for anything less! And get plenty of fresh air to your boobs too.

My doctor told me Daktarin wasn't suitable for babies under 4 months, they always offer Nystatin first?

My LO had it at about 12 weeks old, it took two weeks to clear x

my LO is nearly 7 weeks, and also has it, has been screaming his little heart off

saw my HV today, and she gave him some medicane for it, which you give him with a pipette

she just said to me, that we've got to be really carefull not to go near his mouth too much or we'll get it
xx

My LO has had it twice now, at about 4 weeks and 11 weeks. Both times she had Daktarin gel and it cleared up within 2-3 days. I also used Daktarin cream on myself just in case (I didn't really have any symptoms).

On the box it says not for babies under 4 months, but both times the doc said that Daktarin was fine under docs recommendation. As long as baby wasn't premature or anything..

My LO had it on the inside of her cheeks up under her gums so was quite hard to spot! She was just very fussy when feeding..

Good luck. x
