Second Hand Baby Car Seat

My life long friend has given me the pram she used for her son, who is now 3 years old. The pram is in excellent condition and was an expensive one, and comes with a built in car seat. Now I know that second hand prams are fine and I'm gonna replace the matress on it with a new one, but what about second hand car seats? I know this one is in good condition and is maybe only 3 years old. However, are they recommended?

As far as I know it's ok as long as it hasn't been in a car thats been involved in an accident or been knocked or dropped.

Yep, I think it's ok as long as you can check its history and it's not too old. There are apparently some people who get their car seat replaced by their insurance company after an accident and then sell the old one if it doesn't look damaged. Of course, you can get an honest history of the seat from your friend so it should be fine. The other thing to check is that the seat complies to the current regulations. I'm not sure where you check that but I think there'll be a sticker on it somewhere telling you what it complies to, then just Google what the latest ones are.

Thanks for your help. I've checked with my friend and there was no car accident or anythin like that. Everythin on the car seat looks fine and sturdy.

in the booklet that came with my carseat, it says not to use it after 3 years, to discard it. apparently the plastic can naturally weaken etc. personally i wouldnt risk it, but its up to you hun
