oh and Hannah was 9lbs born and she has been totaly fine with just milk - so its not true what they say about big babys needing food eailer

I'll be weaning when liams 4 months because thats the age i always said id wean when i have a baby plus hes showing all the signs, ive let him have a lick of banana and he loved it i had to take it away because he grabbed my hand and shoved the banana in his mouth. But of course if he doesnt want baby rice then i'll wait a while but i think he will eat it, i gave him calpol this morning because he is teething and he had his mouth open asoon as he saw the spoon lol

I will check with his Dr. on his 17 wks check up & jabs. He has reflux & is taking AR formula which is thick & so filling. He's already skipping feeds & taking much less than the recomended for his age & weight.

I'm aiming to do it at six months, but if he's hungry then I'll do it at four months like I did with my daughter.

Here's a good article on weaning onto solids someone posted the other week...

http://www.askdrsears.com/html/3/t032000.asp

It gives 6 good reasons to wait til 6 months, dispells some of the old wives tales about 'ready signs' and gives an easy way to 'test' if LO is ready.

I started today and my LO is 17 weeks today (4 months tomorrow).

I think my Lo is ready and so spoke to my HV and my good friend who is a GP and both agreed with me.

Oh and watch out for all your older relatives who will tell you that they weaned at 3 weeks etc
lol, the nhs should start a campaign that its only "old" people that advise weaning early. think that would make even my mil go quiet.
Agree with other posts, the nhs says you should wait till the can pick up a bit of banana and eat it themselves before weaning, this normally happens at 6 months :-)
