Are blankies safe?

Hi
evan has a blankie for naps and night time which really helps settle him. He does put it over his face but it's really light and he's able to move it when he wantsitO started worrying tonight that it could be a choking hazard if he stuffs it in his mouth. What do you think? I've taken it away for now.

Megan is swaddled and trying to figure out how to get her to sleep not swaddled I've discovered that she loves a blankie. However I dont feel comfortable with her having it since she wants to cover her face as well. Think its more of an issue with suffocation and building up too much carbon dioxide & not enough oxygen vs. issue with choking on it. I am thinking of waiting til she's a little older to let her have one when she's sleeping - not sure what age though.

my little guy has had one with him since he was a month, alone in his crib, in his own room.

I think if you monitor them, or introduce it slowly during naps you will be more comfortable with the thought in the long run!
